Hi, I'm Martyn.

Who

I am a Welsh graphic & media designer with a love for creative problem-solving. From layout design to branding and advertising almost all graphic design problems can be focused into one key question; how do I communicate this message to my audience? My work thrives when there is an audience to talk to, an idea to communicate, or a story to tell.

What

As a graphic design student and now as a professional graphic designer, I have proven experience in designing and creating a range of visual communication solutions from branding and print advertising to film and social content.

This broad creative and technical ability combined with experience in the service and education sectors has developed my skills in teamwork, time management, prioritisation, organisation, and representation.

As my experience has grown it has become clear to see that graphic design and marketing often go hand-in-hand. Having had a keen interest as a student and now having spent most of my design career as part of an in-house marketing team, I have absorbed as much marketing knowledge as possible, as it can only help to inform my designs.

Why

As a child, I was very aware of the fact that I would spend most of my life working. An odd thing for a child to think about I realise, but something that has most definitely guided my choices; If I was to spend my life working then I was determined to do a job that I enjoyed. For me, graphic & media design does just that - spending each day findings creative solutions to visual communication problems, and producing visually appealing and clear designs.

I thrive off the idea that my work is used to deliver a message, portray an idea or persuade an audience. With this in mind, my work varies for each audience but most have some common themes; simplicity and minimalism are often the best ways to cut through the noise and connect to an audience in a world that is now constantly communicating in faster and more chaotic ways.

I believe that all we can do in life is create something worth remembering when we are gone. Whether it be art, design, architecture, poem or story. We are not just the sum of our actions, but of our creations too.
